Many artists have walked the streets of this neighborhood, many singers have sung its praises, and every street here has a million stories to tell. Rue des Canettes, popular with student youth for many centuries, is well known for its little bars and cafés where people drink up before moving on to the latest cellar bars playing jazz music. And although Saint Germain may have lost some of its village feel, many streets and passageways remain, such as Cour du Commerce Saint André, which has been around since 1735 and is home to Le Procope, the oldest café in France.
