An island which monopolizes visitor’s attention

The island covers just over 54 acres. Although, like the rest of Paris, Île de la Cité lost its medieval architecture with Haussmann, it does however retain an insular character that adds to the magic of the location. With 9 bridges connecting it to the left and right banks, Île de la Cité has the air of a small village within the city. Although Notre-Dame is the most visited monument in France and monopolizes visitors' attention, it is far from being the only point of interest in the neighborhood.

To do list

First, the Saint-Chapelle. A vestige of the old Palais de la Cité, the building is now mainly visited by people who come to visit the famous prison. Accessing Île de la Cité

Île de la Cité is fully connected to the modern city. In addition to the bridges that are used by several bus lines, metro line 4 stops at the Cité station. You can also get to Notre-Dame easily from the Saint-Michel station on the left bank. This touristic and administrative district has more restaurants and gourmet shops than convenience stores. However, there are a few bakeries and other local businesses. The flower market is also very famous...
